How to Get Attention?

Desperate? Pfft.


Here are a few general steps to get the attention of anyone...I guess. If these methods don't seem to work or sound stupid, don't try it then!




Methods
1. By Sound
One of the ways to get attention is by a loud noise or sound that will force everyone else to stop what they're doing and focus their attention on you. If you make them feel interested, they will then continue to give more attention to you. Kids love to use this against parents, they shout, scream, weep and cry.









2. Eye Contack
Eye Contact + Attack = Eye Contack
Just maintain a short moment of eye contact to the person you want and the person is bound to focus on you. The power of eye contacks are that you engrave a meaning in the way you look, so you make the other person think. You can make people shut up and think of you when you do this good enough.









3. Confident Feel
Walk with your disco shoes with the song Stayin' Alive on your Walkman. People will look at you! Nah...this is basically to show confidence, maybe in the way you walk, talk or feel. People tend to have more attention towards charismatic and confident people. Make sure you talk, and say something charming that people will like. It makes you stand out.









4. Smile / Be Cute!
Obvious. Yes, people like it.






5. Amazement
Do something amazing, or at least "unintentionally" let them know. If you can draw, you can dance, let people know. People like to see talent and something different, so if you can do something, at least talk about it! People will then seek you if they need to know more about what you do.









6. Be Relaxing
You can crack some nice jokes, and be humorous to others. When people feel relaxed with you, they generally like you more. Comedians get a lot of attention from crowds.

How to Use Power?

What the hell is this power and how do people use it?



Power is the exertion of influence and the ability to modify or change another person's way or behaviour. In life, it is crucial to have power, especially in business organizations, in order to achieve certain goals. This is under psychology, and power should be used only for good, not bad. As a start, there are 5 types of power.









Types of Power
1. Legitimate Power
This is the formal and legitimate rights by law, that a person can exercise power on. It is also known as authority. This power exists in working environments, superiors possess this power.


2. Coercive Power
This a negative type of power, where a person exercises power by threatening, psychological manipulation, or in any other ways that forces another person to obey due to fear or uncertainty.


3. Expert Power
Knowledge is power. For this type, the person has higher knowledge about a specific field, and others will tend to listen to every word the person tells them to do.


4. Referent Power
Referent power is based on the charismatic attributes of a person, whereby others may look up and take that person as a role model. In doing so, this charismatic person can exercise power.


5. Reward Power
This power is exercised by simply offering a reward.




By using these powers, you can influence others to do things you want them to do. As such, tasks can be completed in a correct manner, in a way you want them to be. Leaders who do not have the power cannot lead their people properly!









How To Use It?
The types of power already explained themselves on how to use them, but take a look at the Weapons of Influence, which I must say is really good.

To use power, you have to first separate emotions from everyday life. Then, you develop plans or strategies to draft out your ways of converting what you want to do (idealism) into realism through actions. Your actions will consist of talking, socializing and building networks. By picking out the best words to use, you can exert the most power with carefully chosen words that other people may have a liking towards it. Words are really sensitive, and even if you say it with one word different, people may approach it differently.




Weapons of Influence
According to Robert Cialdini, there are 6 weapons of influence.


1. Reciprocity
This means to return a favour. By helping others, people tend to return a favour by helping you back. For example, half the people attending an art appreciation session were offered a soft drink. Afterwards, all were asked if they would buy 25-cent raffle tickets. Guess what? The people who had been offered the soft drinks purchased twice as many raffle tickets, whether or not they had accepted the drinks!


2. Commitment and Consistency
When someone else is really committed in doing something, he will do so even though there are some problems with it. Also, if a person is consistent in their life by doing certain tasks every day, they will be so used to doing it until it is like a MUST for them. For example, in car sales, suddenly raising the price at the last moment works because the buyer has already decided to buy.


3. Social Proof
This is where people follow other people's actions. If so many people recommend a can of Pringles and say that it's so good, you'll want to try it too. Another example would be, if one person stops in the streets to look in the sky, other people would stop to look as well because they're uncertain of what it is there. It would even be so powerful that it would stop traffic!


4. Authority
People will obey authoritative figures and loyal people would basically do whatever they are asked to do, even though they object.


5. Liking
This is quite common, and people who like a particular person will be easily influenced by that person. Similarly, this is what happens when boys do whatever a pretty girl asks them to do.


6. Scarcity
Limited edition? People will be rushing to want it. This basically creates an idea among people's minds that they're given an opportunity to do something now or else they will lose that opportunity forever. Perceived scarcity will generate demand!









Why Use Power?
There are many things that won't go your way, and you'll have to find your way around it. If you really have to get things done through or with other people, you will need the power.

Influence -> Power -> Control -> Your Way


Power should only be used when necessary. Using too little power will get you trashed and people will not follow you. Using too much power will also backfire and people rebel against you. Timing is also important, and this will vary for so many different situations in reality. Theories rarely apply in reality due to dynamic environment. Try to learn these weapons of influence and study them to fit you. Do you know how to use your power?

Assumptions to Delusions

Today, we will talk about the human nature of making assumptions, jumping to conclusions and ignorance due to personal experience-based opinion.



Many of you might not have realized, but in truth, ALL of us have made countless assumptions. The sad thing about is, we do not realize that we are just making assumptions and therefore neglected the POSSIBILITY of it being true or false.

Assumption = Hypothesis = Idea Based on Observation

The Human Nature of Assumptions
Let's say you had an experience in a very tough and stressful situation that you made it and managed well after like say...a month. Another friend comes to tell you later on about the same situation for only a week and they're suffering like it's hell and wanted to suicide.

By nature, you would assume that your friend is exaggerating, making excuses or just feeble-minded. This is because you've gone through the same thing and feel that it isn't as bad as it is.

After this assumption, you would say your friend is a wuss because he couldn't manage it on his own but you could. At this point, your assumption has become a delusion. You think you are already right and neglected all other possible factors.

An assumption or a guess is NOT a fact!

The Negligence of Factors
If you were not taught how to do a certain task, you cannot perform the task. At least not correctly. So why do we assume that simple tasks are common sense and can be done perfectly by everybody, whereas if someone was not taught or shown the way to do it, they will screw up?

After experience or influence, we always think that if we can do it, why can't others do the same? Here are the factors we should consider before saying that. Why are these factors? Because they cannot be controlled by the human mind.


1. Environment
Every situation has a different environment. We also grow up in different environments. In different environments we learn different things and act differently. Heck, we do everything differently in different environments.

2. Capability of Absorbing Knowledge
Everyone can be as smart as us. But not everyone receives the same amount of input or knowledge over time. Slow learners may need to work harder or dig deeper and require more time to be as smart as we could. Lazy people just need the right attitude and take initiative.

3. People
There are people everywhere. Different people tell different things and bring us into different situations. Your wife is not your friend's wife, and your mother is not your friend's mother. Situations regarding people are almost cannot be compared to personal experience.

4. Amount of Love
You can ditch your friends, your work, your lover or go against anything because it does not benefit you or it is insane/irrational to do something. However, another person might have love and passion for certain things. Logic cannot override love. It is the same as how the mind can be controlled, but the heart could not. Therefore, the heart is always true. Love is always true, no right or wrong, no logic.

5. Pain & Accidents
You can just trip, fall and twist your ankle at any moment. You can just have a gastric for eating the food you're not used to it. Some people require weeks to recover and some require days. Some don't even experience this problem. It's easy for you to go through situations without any sort of injury or sickness. What if you just spend your daily life with 2 weeks of a very annoying and painful gastric that wouldn't go away? It's hard to even move around.




There might be more factors when you come to think of it, but these are the few. Anger, in my opinion is controllable as it is manageable through your mindset. If you choose to be happy, you will be happy. Anger depends on how you approach things and how much you mind about it.

They're uncontrollable factors man. Think, think.

Consideration
How often do we consider these 5 factors on behalf of others? Due to personal experience, we had always assume we've been through the hardest and others could do the same.

"Been there, done that."

So what? It does not prove that we are in the best position to brag or make things sound easy. We could only give our humble advice and opinion, hoping to help others who will go through the tough challenges.


Also, when your friend looks for you to tell you their problems and stories, just listen. You do not really need to give your opinion at all unless they ask for it. You'd be surprised how many people would actually just want you to listen and do not need your input! That's the main reason for the word, "TELL" anyway...not "DISCUSS".






We all made many of these mistakes every single day and we don't even realize it. So please realize it now, and try to reduce. I am also working on it. :(

How to Manage a Game Guild?

Find out how to manage an active and cool guild in any online game or MMORPG.


Yes, firstly this post is made after Alex's rant on how my blog post should be nicely about my guildmates! I am in the WarriorNation guild, I joined it when I played Cabal. So I met this awesome guild and we had so much fun together. Back then it was so active. Now, the Cabal section is DEAD!




Steps
1. Recruit members.
Firstly, recruit friends. Then recruit random people you see. Populate your guild a bit, and set a little level requirement for the guild. This ensures that your guildmates won't be too slow or too weak for any occassion. It's good to have girls in your guild too. It keeps the guys from leaving your guild.

2. Keeping the guild chat active.
Mainly your friends will be the ones actively spamming in the guild chat. This will let other guild members chat and have fun themselves as well. When guild members chat and interact with each other, they will build a relationship and will be more devoted to the guild.

In forums, we celebrate birthdays to keep everyone warm and active.

3. Scheduling events.
For every guild, there would be guild events and some fun for all members to participate. Members can get to join events and win some fancy prizes or advantages. When making events, you must be creative and make sure that every guild member has a chance to participate. Have your assistants or yourself sponsor some cool prizes. Set a date and let all members know about it at least a few days before the event starts!

4. Manage your guild's ranks and groups.
Sometimes you may want people to help you. So a guild could consist not only the guild master, but also his assistants and many other levels or ranks of members. This allows members to have a small goal to achieve as well as lightening your burden by splitting up the work. You can give funny names to your groups as well!

It's also best that you assign a member as a crafter, or someone who keeps all the stuff like a warehouse. You can also select members that are specially for guild wars and many things to ease management.

5. Get a guild forum or website.
If your game doesn't support a guild board, then you have to create your own. Having your own guild forum allows you to post up events and various things you need to let your guild know. Guild members can also chat and moderate the forums and post up pictures of themselves to share online.

6. Do stuff together and party.
When knowing guild members of nearly the same level, party them and do some training together. You could also get higher level members to help out the lower level members in their quest or leveling. Help each other and interact more daily, even when there's no events!

Example Suitable Events
If you don't know what I mean by suitable events, here's a few examples.

1. Hide and Seek
Being my guild's traditional event, Hide and Seek is a simple game where the organizers will find a place to hide and give simple hints. Players will then try to find them and start a trade. The first one who succeeds doing that will win and get their prize. This is done a couple of times in one whole event.


2. Chicken Dash
I don't know why it's named like that but this event is a race event. Players are required to team up with a partner. The first player will start at one point, and race with the rest to another point. Then the second player will start moving as soon as the first player reaches them. This is pretty much like the passing the baton.

Yeah, XiiaoRanger or Alex, tribute to you for coming up with the greatest ideas for events. Oh, almost forgot, that's the cute and forever young Mashi beside him.

Notice these events does not require any level requirement and it's just plain and direct fun. There are many more cool events my guild has made, but it's not as common as these and is more complex. So use your imagination!




Real-Life Gatherings
I'm sure most of you all didn't expect this, but a gaming guild could have real-life gatherings and have some quality time. Firstly, it's best that the members you're going out with are on the same region or nearby. You can't expect guys from Malaysia to fly over to the US just to meet up and have fun for 3 days, unless they want to and have money to spend.

GarDiaN, the most handsome pastry chef cooked for us in our 2nd gathering.

For these outings, the host must get a good hotel which is near to all the places where your activities will be done. If possible, travel light and let the places you want to go in walking distance. If it's not in walking distance, then you have to rent a car or use your own car(s), else, call a few cabs. Then, do some fun stuff together that you could interact more such as paintball, archery, pool, picnic and so on.

Estimate the total expenditure and post it up in the forums or something to let your guild members know. Oh, and the most important thing is SAFETY!! Be sure to look out for each other.

Well that's about it. A guild can be as close as a family and you could have lots of fun in it. Manage a fun guild and members will always keep the guild active!

How to Write Love Poems?

Writing a poem for your lover can be ever so difficult!


Most lovers would really like to write something passionate and heart-melting to express their deep love towards their partner. However, some of us run out of ideas of what to write and how to write.

Get started with a pencil and a paper.

Portray The Meaning of Your Poem
The main theme of your poem is anything about your partner or your love. Then, for each stanza, it can be your lover's beauty, personality or the things you did together. It can also be about your relationship and love towards your lover.

Know what you have to write about. Then, know what meanings you need to let your lover know in the poem.


Example:
You want to write to Lily that you feel relaxed with her.

Meaning to Portray
- I feel calm when you're around.





Substitute Words / Write Lovely Words
Now you have your meaning, you would want to substitute certain words, or rewrite a sentence that is more lovely and attractive. Your sentence can be a complex sentence, or with the usage of objects to express. It can also contain "hidden" meanings. Exaggerate a little bit and show how much you really mean when you wrote it.


Example:
Meaning to Portray - I feel calm when you're around.
Sentence - Your presence invoked bliss.


When making these sentence it is important to know that you can also use metaphors, personifications, similes, idioms, slang and others.

A letter filled with love is a letter with romantic poems.

Writing Progression In Your Poem
When you write in a stanza, you want everything to link together and it's based on something. If you write like say...


You were walking with one shoe,
And with every step my heart paced,
The sky ripples are so blue,
Like how the blue in your eyes interlaced.


It may sound nice but there is no connection in what you're trying to say. Lily was walking with one shoe (it might had really happened on a date) and with every step your heart paced, is good. Then it suddenly switched to how the sky is, and it's like her eyes. No link.

It's best that you continue on after how every step your heart paced, maybe say about how graceful she can become even if she's walking with one shoe, walking like a duck and maybe in one of her most embarassing moments. Example continuation...


I didn't help but stood like a statue,
I was dazed as even so you still graced.


This explains how graceful Lily could be until she had you stunned like a statue, not only in that situation, but possibly almost all situations.

Simple and nice with a smooth flow will look beautiful.

Using a Set Number of Syllables or Words
This is not really important when writing your own poem. However, if you want to make your poem more lovely, you can write a set number of words or syllables for each line. That way, when you say out your poem, you will get a lovely flow and sounds neat.

Lesser words forces you to be even more creative and unique in your writing. Portraying a meaning strongly by using only a few words is always powerful and lovely.




Rhyming
Although you have gotten your meanings to portray, you still need to rhyme it at the end of each line. Make your first two lines first, then after you thought the meanings of the last two lines, think of a word that rhymes.


Example:
Your presence invoked bliss,
Without effort just like magic,

3rd Line Keyword - kiss
Sentence - As with every single kiss,

4th Line Keyword - panic
Sentence - I grew less panic.

Recap
1. Know the meaning you want to show to your lover.
2. Write it down in a more strong and romantic way using your own words and style.
3. Make sure they rhyme as you wanted and still keep the meaning.

How to Keep Promises?

Yakusoku da? Or not...

We make promises to people a lot, and sometimes we don't do it. In order to really keep a promise, we shouldn't promise others many things. We should think carefully and always remember a promise. It is because we know we have the ability to do it, that is why we promise others. However, even though we know we can, it doesn't mean we will!

Promise?

Rough Rules
1. Promise when you know you can and will do it.

2. Do not forget a promise. If you have many things in mind, stop promising others.

3. Voice out your troubles to fulfill the promise when making one so you and the other person can reconsider.

4. Promise only when you like/willingly do it.

5. Do not fake a promise just to make someone happy.



Some of us know we can do it, but we just wanna make that person happy, so we promise them even though we don't like it. Stop doing so and speak the truth, it would save all the hassle especially when you're doing that for your girlfriend. Girls are...crazy. Promise them and you might not do it, they go crazy. Don't promise them and they'll go even crazier.

The best you can do is don't promise them and let them go crazy all they want while you have peace of mind! =D

Why do friends backstab?

It hurts when people backstab you? :D

Most of my friends who are girls, as well as my girlfriend were hurt due to certain friends backstabbing/betraying them. Before we start, let's take a look at a lovely friendship picture in a hotel room. (Advertising gaming network in blog...)

The Reason

Most people "backstab" because it really is for self-preservation. Some friends "backstab" others, by exposing secrets, put the blame on you and more. They feel the need to do it because they want to be carefree or they have an envious heart/greed for things they want from you. Some do it for the fun of it, they want to bully you and make you cry! :D

How to Prevent?

There is no way to prevent, but you can just pick your friends. Like I said, they do it mainly for self-preservation, they're not really in the wrong, this is the world, face it. Most friends of mine who are girls, they have these "best friends forever" or "best friend" thing. Okay, this is how Girl A thinks.

"Best friends should always be there for you! I was always there for her but she wasn't for me!"

The psychology implemented here is, you're my best friend, so we must be always close to each other and be there when we're in need as always! Don't think like that. The reason why your best friend is YOUR best friend is because you made your best friend YOUR best friend. You can always switch best friends because it is your preference to which friend is the BEST for YOU overtime. People's preferences change from time to time.

Attitude to Implement

1. Don't expect!
If you always expect your friend to do something in return and your friend doesn't, you'll be in dismay. You have your own capabilities, don't hand it to a friend if you're not prepared that your friend might not do it well. Friends are not you. They can't do it like how you want it to be.

2. Don't turn your backs on them?
I heard this from some friend...but it's good I guess. Just leave no opening for a backstab and you'll be fine or just take it and be happy because you don't care.

3. Have no best friends.

You can have close friends, but never till the point to expect that this specific friend has to be there for you everytime and treat you better. That's the job of your (future) girlfriend/boyfriend.

4. Blame yourself for getting hurt from a backstab.

If you're that dumb to be affected by a backstab, you're not ready to live in the world yet! ;)

Last Words

Both friends who care about you and friends who don't make your life clearer and it's best to have them both in our lives. You wan't good friends? Warrior Nation is a start! :D
